Jed Smith joined the National Association of Realtors in 2008 as Managing Director, Quantitative Research.  He oversees the production of the REALTORS® Confidence Index, the NAR Profile of International Home Buying Activity, NAR’s Congressional District Reports, NAR’s State-by-State International Business Reports, NAR’s Relocation Reports, and a variety of Commercial publications detailing market trends.

Jed Smith Real Estate and Money ShowJed has made presentations outlining commercial and residential market conditions and the outlook to REALTOR® associations around the county and frequently hosts international visitors from China, South America and Europe concerning the outlook for the U.S. real estate markets.

Jed has approximately 20 years of experience in analyzing commercial real estate and residential housing markets, based on work as a manager with General Electric’s Power Business, and as Director of Market Planning and Analysis for Washington Gas.  Special areas of expertise include marketing, planning, and economic analysis.  He has focused on both understanding the real estate markets and on implementing the use of the information for business planning and development purposes.

His economics degrees are the Ph.D. and M.S. from Purdue University, and an A.B. from Hamilton College. He has taught as an adjust professor in MBA and undergraduate marketing programs and also has experience in managing major marketing databases.
